Autumn Path Series

Autumn Path XXI
Original 24" x 30" x 0.75" painting
Golden and Liquitex acrylic paints on gallery-wrapped canvas

This is one of my favorite--and most popular--compositions. I love the palette in this composition, the atmospheric perspective, and the contrast of the fall foliage and blue sky.

You may find this painting, and others in my newly listed work, at the online venues in my links section on the top right of my blog.

I'm still cranking out the embellished giclees for my UK broker, but I had to take a break from the action to paint an original for today's listings. I typically have two or three new paintings to list on a daily basis, so please go to one of my sites to see my current offerings.

Embellished Giclee Prints

Red Leaves and Shadows

Original 24" x 36" x 1.5" painting
Golden and Liquitex acrylic paints on gallery-wrapped canvas
Reproduced as a giclee print

This painting is one I did a couple of years ago which my broker in the UK selected from my portfolio. He has ordered embellished giclee prints of my work for a high-end condo development project in Portugal that he's working on.

My local printer--Denver Digital--is using Ultrachrome K3 inks on artist's canvas, and I'm embellishing the prints with Liquitex and Golden acrylic paints. Most of my time for the past two weeks has been spent on the embellishing work, but I have also managed to produce some new originals for sale.

My hope is to expand my business to include giclee reproduction sales to interior designers and architects. I use high-resolution TIFFs taken with a Canon PowerShot Pro 1 camera at 300 dpi for prints.

I currently sell my reproductions of my work on artistrising.com, which also includes art.com and allposters.com. You may do a keyword search for my work using Patty Baker on all three sites. There is also a link to my work on Artist Rising on the top right of my blog page, and my web site.

Word of the day: Fauve

Fauve Farm VI

Original 8" x 10" x 0.75" painting
Golden and Liquitex acrylic paints on gallery-wrapped canvas

The paintings of the Fauves were characterised by seemingly wild brush work and strident colours, while their subject matter had a high degree of simplification and abstraction. Fauvism can be classified as an extreme development of Van Gogh's Post-Impressionism fused with the pointillism of Seurat and other Neo-Impressionist painters, in particular Paul Signac. Other key influences were Paul Cezanne and Paul Gauguin. The leaders of the movement were Henri Matisse and André Derain. (Wikipedia)

Matisse is one of my favorite artists of the last century. The boldness of his color choices and the seeming simplicity of his compositions were a major draw for me when I was an art student.

I love the Fauve style of painting because it allows me to use bold, bright colors--and I love to play with color.

It snowed a lot today in Golden. I worked today on embellishing giclee prints for my UK deal, and tried to stay warm.

This is a piece I painted last week, and is currently for sale on the venues where I list. Please check my links on the right.

I'm thinking of warmer days ahead...

Welcome to my blog!

Bouquet with Striped Cloth
Original 18" x 24" x 0.75" painting

Greetings Art Lovers!

It's a chilly day in Golden, CO. We had 70 degree days last week, followed by snow and cold for the past couple of days.

This is a piece that I painted today, and is listed on all of the venues on which I sell my work. You may view this piece, as well as my other work currently for sale, by selecting one of the links on the right.

I have many different projects going right now, in addition to painting my original acrylics. My work has been selected for review by an art broker in the UK who is working with an architectural firm building high-end condos in Portugal. He has requested samples of my work to be reproduced as embellished giclee prints. I am currently working with my local printer in Denver to have digital images of my work printed on artist's canvas using Ultrachrome inks. The prints are then embellished by me using Golden and Liquitex paints. I'm very excited about the potential for this opportunity.

In addition, I am working with my husband and a salesman we've hired to offer embellished giclee prints of my work to interior designers, architects, and publishers domestically here in the U.S.

Also, A-R-T and Associates, my publisher in the Atlanta area, has commissioned me to do a 60" x 60" x 1.5" Alaska landscape for one of their clients. I have been working on a lot of commissions lately, and am often asked to reproduce new originals of my sold work. My publisher is also working with me to produce abstract impressionist-type paintings of famous golf course holes for their clientele.

You may view my online portfolio on my web site for more examples of my work.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog!
