Work This Week

Foliage in Bloom
Original 16" x 20" x 0.75" painting
Golden, Liquitex, and Chroma acrylics on gallery-wrapped canvas

Trees and Early Morning Light
Original 18" x 24" x 0.75" painting
Golden, Liquitex, and Chroma acrylics on gallery-wrapped canvas

Abstract Cattails
Original 30" x 40" x 0.75" painting
Golden, Liquitex, and Chroma acrylics on gallery wrapped canvas

My new work so far this week includes these three new compositions. I'm returning to a more impressionistic style in some of my work, as noted in Foliage in Bloom. The cool autumn air and the seasonal changes are so refreshing and inspiring to me. They renew my spirit and inspire hope and gratitude for all that is beautiful in this life.

Quote of the Day
"Mindfulness is the aware, balanced acceptance of the present experience. It isn't more complicated that that. It is opening to or receiving the present moment, pleasant or unpleasant, just as it is, without either clinging to it or rejecting it." --Sylvia Boorstein

Today's Work 09.13.09

Cow in Autumn Pasture
Original 16" x 20" x 0.75" painting
Golden, Liquitex, and Chroma acrylics on gallery-wrapped canvas

Still Life with Gerber Daisies IV
Original 16" x 20" x 0.75" painting
Golden, Liquitex, and Chroma acrylics on gallery-wrapped canvas

Aspens in Late Day Light
Original 24" x 36" x 0.75" painting
Golden, Liquitex, and Chroma acrylics on gallery-wrapped canvas

Today's work includes all new compositions. Cow in Autumn Meadow was inspired by the rich autumn pastoral scenes of my native rural New York and my 20+ year home in Colorado. Still Life with Gerber Daisies IV is a new still life composition depicting the rich colors of one of my favorite flowers. Aspens in Late Day Light depicts the transitional season between late summer and early autumn in Colorado, just before the leaves begin to change into their beautiful fall colors.

The crisp morning air of autumn is upon us, and I'm thrilled that we're moving into my favorite season of the year.

Quote of the Day
"The choice you face constantly is whether you are taking your wounds to your head or your heart. In your head you can analyze them, find their causes and consequences, and coin words to speak and write about them. But no final healing is likely to come from that source. You need to let your wounds go down to your heart. Then you can live through them and discover that they will not destroy you. Your heart is greater than your wounds." --Henri Nouwen

The Vacation Series 8.16.09

Early Morning Light Through Summer Trees
Original Acrylic Painting

Today's my last day of vacation, a travel day--so not really vacation per se, but the journey is really part of the whole experience. It was great to see my family back in New York. School starts at the end of this week, so my kids will be back into their academic routine in no time. My baby starts high school this year!

I have several commissions that came in while I was away, and a some that were already in the queue when I left! Thank you, as always, to my patrons!

First Light Through the Trees

First Light Through the Trees
Original 30" x 40" x 0.75" painting
Golden, Liquitex, and Chroma acrylics on gallery-wrapped canvas

Today's work includes a new abstract landscape composition. One of the delights I have in painting is creating the illusion of light and space, and this painting was a great composition for applying those skills.

I'm also doing a lot of commission work this week, which is wonderful!

Late Day Light, Creek, and Storm Clouds

Late Day Light, Creek, and Storm Clouds
Original 48" x 24" x 0.75" commissioned painting
Two 24" x 24" canvases
Golden, Liquitex, and Chroma acrylics on gallery-wrapped canvas

Today's work includes a commission I did in trade with a patron who's bought several of my paintings. The trade was for some of her beautiful handmade jewelry, available on Etsy (pendredkeller28.etsy.com). This commission is a reproduction of an original done on a single canvas. My patron asked for her commission on two 24" x 24" canvases. I hope to get more of her jewelry again in the future, so I hope she wants more paintings!

Tip of the Day
Marketing artwork you're selling yourself online requires some resourcefulness. Sales venues each have their own methods allowing you to generate more exposure for your work. Your options range from featuring your work on a per-listing basis, featuring several of your pieces through a "showcase" option, email marketing, purchasing ad space on related sites, etc.

Depending on where you sell your work, some research is required to determine what marketing options are available on those sites. Specifics on how to market your work are discussed in our upcoming workshop Selling Your Artwork Online. Please check back for dates, times, and availability for our live and online versions of the workshop.
